Chelsea Flower Show 2010

Chelsea Flower Show 2010

May 25, 2010

The planning for this show started a full year before we attended.

In May of 2009, we traveled to London, England to meet our newest member of the Ethel Gloves team, Quality Garden Tools Ltd, our official UK distributor.  We met at the Chelsea Flower Show and talked about how fantastic it would be if we could exhibit there next year.  In September 2009, we submitted our application to the RHS to attend Chelsea and waited patiently until January 2010 to find our application had been accepted.  We were beyond excited!  Cross Way/4 was to be our home at the show.

On May 21, 2010, the Ethel team flew to the UK to prepare for the show.  London had unseasonably warm weather the weekend we arrived (in the upper 80's) and we melted as we set up our booth, with excitement building.  The day preceding the start of the show is Press Day where we saw British celebrities - Ringo Starr, Jamie Oliver, Stephen Hawkings to name a few.  We also saw the Queen!  It was quite an honor and something we will always remember.

The show officially opened on May 25 and closed on May 29.  It was a long week, but exhilarating!  We met so many people and introduced Ethel to a whole new country and we must say we were welcomed with open arms.  England is a community of gardeners and we hope we provided them with a glove that will help them complete all the tasks they set out to do.  Our partnership with the Quality Garden Tools ensured the show went off with a hitch.   To our surprise and delight, the RHS awarded our booth with a "Certificate of Merit" which is very uncommon for first time exhibitors.  We were thrilled to be recognized for all our hard work and dedication that went into planning, building and participating in the Chelsea Flower Show 2010.

We want to extend our gratitude to everyone at Quality Garden Tools for helping to make this dream possible.  Dominic, Sarah, Yvette and Natasha - thank you for everything!

We are already looking forward to next year.....
